San Alberto Museum is a historic house museum that opened to the public in 1980. The building is a witness of development of the city since its origins.

We tell the story of the foundation of the Royal Home of Orphan Girls (1782), the first institution devoted to female and pluralistic education in the Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata, and about its original institutions (Carmelite Congregation and Santa Teresa‘s School) which are still operating in this historic environment.

Through historic furnishings, utensils, works of art and documents, the rooms evoke the ways of feminine life in colonial Córdoba: childhood, the cloisters, prayers, work and the visionary ideas of a man that included women in the educational project of that time.

We retell stories of history, stories of those who shaped it and remain within it faceless and unnamed. An unforgettable place!

Our job is to provide the tools that allow the interpretation of our heritage, that foster an active engagement and critical attitude in our visitors through a museology project that inspires the creation of cultural, didactic and recreational proposals within a coherent and supported frame.
